I was in Murmansk in the summer of 2013, around the time of the midnight sun. I’ve put together a small collection of photographs I’ve taken there – maybe these give some sort of flavour of what Murmansk is like, in the summer at least.
The massive statue, which is on a hillside towering above the city, is the Memorial to the Defenders of the Kola land (also known as Alyosha). The blue and white church in one of the other pictures is the Marine Savoiur on Waters Orthodox Cathedral.
I’ve also added some photographs of newly weds having their photographs taken in front of some of the tourist spots in a section of my blog (Murmansk brides and grooms, 17 September 2013).
